Hi, I’m Jim Lauria—a business executive in the water technology field, author, and storyteller with a gift for making complex topics engaging and relatable. I hold a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from Manhattan College, a foundation that has informed my ability to turn technical challenges into compelling narratives.
While living in Asia, I led a joint venture with the Chinese government, directing a $45 million investment in mining operations during a whirlwind “trains, planes, and automobiles” tour of China. This experience reinforced my ability to navigate cross-cultural collaboration and achieve successful outcomes under challenging conditions.
I’m the author of How to Get Your Money Back From Big Companies, a humorous guide to resolve customer service challenges, and I share insights on leadership, creativity, and storytelling through my LinkedIn newsletter, To Know Water Is To Love Water.
My work has been featured in leading publications and praised for blending technical expertise with practical, approachable advice. One of my proudest moments? Providing peer review for the World Health Organization’s publication on drinking water treatment—a contribution that earned me the self-proclaimed title “Who’s Who of WHO.” I also co-host the podcast Water We Talking About?, where I dive into critical issues with humor and insight, proving even the driest topics can flow like a great story.
These days, I live in Napa, California, with my incredible wife, Laurie Lauria, who fills my life with love, laughter, and a healthy dose of alliteration.
Let’s connect—I’d love to talk writing, storytelling, or turning ideas into opportunities that resonate!
